Time Lapse video testing

Howdy!

The plan is get this little fella going for the whole ride so we have a record of where we went and what we saw. Basically its an Iphone app that lets you take a photo every so many seconds. This test was done every 20 seconds but its a bit jumpy. think I’m going to try for every 5 seconds on the ride and just see how the battery holds up. Enjoy!

A bit of tooth ache

While giving my bike a little once over last night I discovered that I had broken one of the teeth off the 13T sprocket. This left me with a bit of a dilemma. Do I leave it and hope it can last 924 miles without any issues, or do I fix it? After pondered over the situation today I decided that the best option would be to fix it. I had already thought about replacing my small 39T chainring on the front to help with some of the hills but decided against it in the end. Although I will be carrying a lot of weight on the back of my bike i figured that i could manage with what ive got.

Seeing as I was now going to be doing work on the rear cassette I decided that rather than just replacing the 13T sprocket I would replace the whole cassette and improve my gear ratios at the same time. I was currently running 11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23 and after a quick trip to the local bike shop I bought Shimano Deore 11-32 Cassette giving me 11-12-14-16-18-21-24-28-32. This new cassette will still give me the speed on the flat while in top gear but should now give me that little bit extra while going up some of the steeper hills. When I get a bit of spare time I will take the opportunity to give the old cassette a good polish while its off!

5 minutes changing the cassette and another 5 minutes tinkering with the derailed and the new cassette is looking rather nice! I’ll give it a proper little test ride tomorrow just to check it’s all working OK.

Support car all stickered up

Big shout out to Jim from AR signs for sorting us out with some fancy stickers for the side and bonnet of the car. Almost looking professional now for our drive down to Cornwall next Friday.

This time next week we’ll just be arriving in Penzance. Can’t believe it’s only 7 days until we go!

Cycling Jersey’s all sorted

Our cycling tops have now finally been ordered. bit of back and forward on the design but can’t fault the guys at the owayo… the tops looking amazing. should be with us on the 13th of Sept so a little tight on the time frames

Knee seems to be doing OK so i’m feeling pretty good at the moment…

up and cycling…

Right then time to get this blog fully up and running!

80 mile training ride with the full team yesterday. Nottingham to Rutland Water and back…with a full load (apart from Hendo who still hasn’t sorted his kit out)

went pretty well.. jam sandwiches worked a treat for energy – non of this scientific isotonic stuff… the plan of buying a loaf of bread and a jar of jam between us every night looks like a goer.

only major concern is that I seem to have tweaked something in my right knee. when it twists a bit and has a bit of pressure on it i get shooting pains up the side of my leg. I went out this morning and did about 7 miles and it felt just OK. I’ve got a Physio appointment on Thursday so here’s hoping everything is ok…it had better be.

right time to sort out sponsorship!
